No the problem isn't you, and there isn't just one problem. The first problem is the misunderstanding of what being a “Prepper” means. There are 2 very common misrepresentations of the community. The first you probably see when you close your eyes and picture a “Doomsday Prepper.” Some backwoods homegrown hillbillys with a cabin in the woods stocked to the chimney with food and ammunition. Maybe he's got a bunker buried in his backyard... This is your imagination, have fun with it. While I can assure you these are real people and their strategy is not necessarily a bad one. Most of us don't have the means or the desire to take it to that level. Nor will it be necessary for most of what I intend to cover here. The second is what I like to call the “Trendy Prepper.” They spend hundreds of dollars on pre assembled Go-bags, Multifunction survival tools (That are always wrapped in paracord for some reason. Seriously just buy some paracord if you think you’ll need it. You can get 100 feet for like 10 dollars. It’s just nylon rope. Don't let them trick you), and all sorts of crazy solar powered shit for charging your devices. Which, don't get me wrong, is all fine but most of the time these are bought without any thought of practical application and most of the time, well, they're shit. Just because you’ve bought a hundred dollar axe doesn't mean you can split logs with it. Get where I'm going. Lets continue.
